Just so you know what your characters environment and surroundings are like (aside from what is described in the boards) these are some links to the actual land which the site idea was based off of. Things may be different since the following links contain information that is current, and the site takes place back in BC (a very, very long time ago)
Cappadocia, in terms of the site, is rugged and mostly mountainous. It takes up a large part of present day Turkey (much larger than what it is today). It's a plateau surrounded by mountains varying in height - some have snow, some don't. In the center of the mountains the terrain differs from barren to lush; grasslands and meadows, rotting forests and desert. This is where most of the socialization goes on between the horses, and there is a lot of involuntary action between the War Horses and the Native Horses because ALL of the horses must go to the plateau for things like breeding, claiming and fighting.
The mountains are home to the herds because it was the only place where the humans would not go. Some of the herd lands are a bit more harsh with tall, cold mountains, and other herd lands are more hilly with rocks and boulders.
As far as climate goes, Cappadocia is a very cold region. Summer and Fall are the best seasons because it's warmer, hence why foaling is allowed. Spring is on the edge of Winter, and so isn't as 'lively' as it is in other areas. Winter brings a lot of snow, and temperatures can get as low as below 0. The average hi for Cappdocia, year round, is in the middle 70's with the average low being in the 50's.
