[bg=000000][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=border,0,true] Character Name: Gehlbrethe Pronounced: Gel (like gel, but with the 'guh' sound) - breath Gender: Mare Age: 3 Rank: War Mare
Appearance: As an entity, the focal point of this War Horse is her ancestry. Every aspect of her physical appearance and stature is in direct correspondence with her Andalusian heritage with the exception of a few attributes whose influence was by man and war; most of which negatively affect her.
Starting with the breed characteristics, Gehlbrethe has a remarkably clean white coat whose pallid hue conceals all defects and scars inflicted in combat. This flawlessness ceases at her extremities which are eternally stained tan from battling in unfavorably dirty conditions; also bearing a few hints of scarring. Her muzzle is coloured soft charcoal though bares the most apparent scars from fights where teeth and hooves have made damaging contact. Only through strict breeding did Gehlbrethe acquire the impressive height of 16 hands and she weighs in, usually, at 1000 pounds; fluctuating by season. A tangled disarray of white and blond tress sits less than elegantly on the right side of her neck, though still appears exaggeratedly long due to her breed. Her tail is a bit smoother and reaches no farther than her gaskin, though is splintered and tainted red at the end from wounds endured and wounds inflicted.
Aside from appearance, Gehlbrethe’s Andalusian heritage has also graced her with a long and broad neck leading to well defined whithers. A massive chest provides utmost lung capacity for maximum endurance. She has a short barrel leading to broad and muscular hindquarters with a rounded posterior. Bucking is a common defense tactic used by this mare due to the strength in hind legs as well as a refined croup which makes attacks easier to evade. Powerful back end also gives her an extra thrust when running making her strides long and exaggerated.
Legs are thick but not heavy to look at. Gait is energetic, cadenced and extended with exaggeration in elevation. Gehlbrethe has high dexterity, and quick turns on the haunches, making her reaction time superior to the heavier War breeds. She was taught such a move as advanced collection by her owners - meaning she can handle more weight on her back end than front end. Unfortunately, the severely manipulative breeding enacted by man caused her back end – her hips more specifically - to become stiff if weight is suddenly thrown or forced upon her, so Gehlbrethe tends to refrain from rearing and quickly prepares herself for attacks at her rear. Although muscles are much more prominent in her frame than even her breed recommends, she is nothing in comparison to most of the other War Horses.
Personality: Even in her personality, the focus remains on Gehlbrethe’s ancestry. If not for being an Andalusian there would be no positive aspect to this mare, for not only man but blood line corrupts her. Never the less, the courage and intelligence common to her breed is heavily embedded in Gehlbrethe’s demeanor. Not only is she a thinker and an observer, she can very quickly learn the personalities and tactics of other horses; one of few perceptive War Horses still living. This can also make her very manipulative since she often knows more about strangers than what they want her to know, and wrong assumptions can occasionally get her into trouble. Rarely is she found wrong in her decisions on those she encounters, though; you either are or aren’t worth her time. She will enter any battle and face any opponent even if she knows she can’t win. She’s resilient to any sort of attack on her – physical or otherwise – and will more often act normal even if she is bleeding from her heart.
Trust is not an issue for Gehlbrethe for she has made the decision to trust no one. This often conflicts with her loyal and slightly protective side though she finds it easy to be loyal to someone she can’t trust. Still, a relationship is a hard thing to form with Gehlbrethe; especially if she has already dedicated herself to someone. Now she is no believer in love or friendship, but at any given point in her life she can form one relationship with either a stallion or mare. When she fought for man her only ally was her rider while all other horses remained her enemies. Now that her rider has died she has an open slot for someone to move in, but she isn’t often found to be ‘welcoming.’
Now on to the negative side of Gehlbrethe’s personality. This mare’s blunt and degrading words make her a cruel and sadistic bitch. She doesn’t care for anyone, has no desire to make friends or procreate with some stallion. She’s very thickheaded and determined, no less than confident and so self-assured that she would accept the challenge from even the strongest Warlord. Having never been bred yet bred for nothing but fighting, this is one of the few War Mares whose existence was strictly for fighting. The pain of others amuses her even if it is emotional and she is known to be antagonistic. Though not entirely deprived of her docile nature, Gehlbrethe is exaggeratedly aggressive when it is unnecessary. Plainly she is your atypical War Mare in that she has endured no molestation and abuse other than what she has endured in combat. More than accustomed to inflicting pain and killing, Gehlbrethe knows nothing else and is often cursed with being just as power-hungry and egotistical as the Warlords.

Other: Although both her parents were pure-bred Andalusian, her sire had one of the worst tempers that man had ever seen. By inheriting this, Gehlbrethe's typicallly calm and intelligent Andalusian personality has been severely depleted. Her mother was no more a War mare than any Native, but she was a temptress and most seductive whore alive. Gehlbrethe has inherited little of her mothers personality, so is rarely thought to be charming.
Both her parents names are unknown; she knows only of their personalities, and that she has inherited the rare black gene from her father.
